For this task I have found 3 graphic designers to look at and analyse,
Morey Talmor-http://www.moreytalmor.com/
Hansje van Halem-http://hansje.net/
Ross Gunther-http://rossgunter.com/
All three of these designers are freelance which is a way of working I would like to go into in the future, however it has its negatives as well as the positives that come with working for yourself. They are all print based designers, doing a variety of work within this media, which is the area of graphic design I am interested in.
I am going to start by looking at each designers strengths and weaknesses before I write up my 250 word task.
I am going to start by looking at each designers strengths and weaknesses before I write up my 250 word task.

Weaknesses
-Working for a studio and freelance means there maybe times when you can't do all the work that is asked of you, you may have to choose one over the other to make sure you produce work to the best possible standards for the client
-Living in London has its perks but it also means there is a lot of competition to get your work seen in a very busy and saturated market and city
My 250 word statement/evaluation.
There are many design studios and freelance graphic designers out there, they are all striving to be seen and do something different which makes them stand out from the crowd. I have picked three practitioners and looked at their strengths and weaknesses. I have looked at Morey Talmor(http://www.moreytalmor.com/),Hansje van Halem(http://hansje.net/), Ross Gunther(http://rossgunter.com . They all have their strengths as well as weaknesses and looking at these have helped me understand more about my own practise and considerations of how I will work in the future.
They are all freelance designers but Ross Gunther also works as part of a design studio some of the time, this has its positives as well as negatives. The positives are that you are free to travel to where the work is and you have more choice on what briefs you want to take on, you have less commitments which means you may get the clients over someone else and open up more opportunities. It also means you can move with social patterns and trends more and move to where these trends are emerging with more ease.
The weaknesses of being freelance is the financial unstability that comes with it, there is not gaurenteen you'll get work or where your next job is coming from. It is an obstical that has to been faced if you choose to go freelance and could threated your living condidtions.
Another factor that I have noticed as a potentinal strength or weakness of your work is where you're based and located. All three of the designers I have looked at live in big cities, London, New York and Amsterdam which is good for opportunities, being in a place with a high population of people there are more opportunities to work with people and get yourself out there. However there is also the negative side of living in a big city, there is more competition and you have to do more to be seen and have a good USP which makes you stand out.
I think looking at already exsisting and practicing professionals is a good way to anaylse your own work and how will be best for you to work to get the best opportunites and optimise your positives within your working life.
