Revolution Ink

This week InPress took part in a night called Revolution Ink which took part at Vodka Revs in Leeds town center.
It was a fun night and we met a lot of other young creatives doing a similar thing to us in different fields of design. However as the night was a new concept it hadn't been thought out that well and had not been promoted enough. The timing was also wrong, it was held to late at night and should of been more of an late afternoon/early even event.

Design Strategies Presentation

This is my Design Strategies Presentation about my summer
that I did infront of my peers and tutors when we started
back at college. Seeing as I am not a big fan of presentations
I am quite happy with how it went.

Factory 4

Due to the lack of facilities being open at College over the summer I decided to sign up for the screen printing workshop in Leeds, Factory 4.
I have been using the facilities a lot so far as I have been printing for InPress events, its a great environment to work in a I think I will continue using it throughout my third year.

Natural History and Science Museum Visits

Party for fun but also for dissertation research I went and visited the Natural History and Science Museums down in London.
Both proved to be really helpful and interesting and I gathered some useful information in regards to my dissertation research.

Here are a few notes I took that I need to go back and look up in more detail to gain more research for my dissertation.

The Science Museum also had articles that you could read and also get them e-mail to yourself to
read at home, I got some of the ones I thought were relevant e-mailed to me to use as research for my dissertation.

D&AD Visit

Charlotte, Sadie and myself took a trip down to London to go see D&AD New Blood.
It was my first time to New Blood and I was slightly overwhelmed but the amount going on and the amount of people that were there all squashed into what I thought was quite a small space!

When walking round I thought some of the stands had got really inventive and clever with the layout and how they presented the work, I think it was kingston University who had cut into a table and placed the publications that had into holes cut to their size, it was just a bit different and made me look at the work in more.

I collected up some business cards that I liked, either the persons work or just the business card itself,

InPress and Musical Maths

Luke O'Brien, a fellow student at Leeds College of Art runs a zine, Musical Maths, he asked for submissions for the front cover of the next issue and directed the interest at us as, InPress.

We got on it straight away and e-mailed him some possible artwork, in the end this one was decided and it went to print the next day ready to go on the InPress stall at the end of year shows.

The June issue is avalible to buy here, http://musicalmathematics.bigcartel.com/product/zine-june-issue

InPress Shop at End of Year Show

We went to marketing to pitch about hosting a shop at the end of year shows selling work from students around college, we received submissions and set up shop on the opening night of the shows and run the shop for the whole week, here are some images of the shop itself...

Overall the shop was a big success, it made over £600 overall and we got a lot of work and future opportunities come from it which is great.
This is something that has helped us get our name out their and help other designers sell their work and get themselves known,
