New Business Cards

I am getting some new business cards made up for the 
end of year show, they are based on my existing owl design 
but  have been altered a bit,  I am also going to flock the center
yellow part and cut the top to changed the dimensions slightly.

I got a really lovely reply from the illustrator Alan Dalby
I had been taking with.
It was nice to hear of someone that is doing what 
I want to be doing when I graduate. Very nice man.

Precious

I was part of an exhibition recently, run by the art collective Precious,

it is a mix of 12 artists and designers all exhibiting their work.

My work was an interactive piece, made of jelly, I wanted to see

without being told if people would start to eat the jelly and what the response

would be.

Overall it was a really fun exhibition to be part of!

I didn't hear anything back and kind od forgot about it,
however I cam home the other day to find this! I print
and letter in reply!

Contacting Alan Dalby

I wanted to send a letter to illustrator Alan Dalby in Manchester but he didn't
have an address on his website.
I decided to e-mail him and ask him for his address, he was more than happy to give it to
me and sounded excited about receiving a letter, the also then went and tweeted about it!

Contacting Studios

I have got together a mail out to send to some of my favourite designers and
studios. I have written them each a personal letter and sent them 
some samples of my work.
Hopefully I will get some replies.

Aaron Vohra-Urban Outfitters

I have recently got in contact with my friend Aaron Vohra,
he graduated from university a few years argo after doing illustration.
He now has a job at Urban Outfitters, he works on the websites, doing
the illustration and hand drawn type that gets featured online.
He works in studios in London and I have asked him if I could
come down for a visit to see what goes on.

Big Cartel Store

To go alongside my website I have also set up a big Cartel store,
I sell my work at the Inpress events but I also thought it would be good
to have somewhere to permanently sell my work as well.

Website

Over Christmas I decided it was time I properly sorted out my website, I had a Tumblr before
to show my work and I had opened a Cargo account but hadn't got round to sorting it out.
I built a basic website using Cargo and one of their templates, adjusting it a bit to suit
what I wanted.
I also purchased a custom domain name www.frannyp.com.
I now have a fully functioning website, it still needs improving but after taking
professional photos of all my work for the last module I am happy
with how it looks overall.

Inpress Event At Dock Street Market

We held our event over three days, having the opening night on 

the 31st of November and then the shop ever the rest of the weekend.

The opening night was great, we had a really good turn out and saw 

some new faces that we hadn't seen at previous events and got talking

to a lot of new people.

Form and Writing and James Murphy were our guest designers, they also 

both did really well and had a lot of interest surrounding their work.

Inpress at Spur

Spur is a new magazine launched by students from interdisciplinary.
Inpress are a feature in the magazine, we were interviewed about what we
do, it has been great working with Spur as we have been promoted through 
their magazine and they are doing something great for the cultural scene, 
and in return we sell their magazine at our events. 

As well as being featured in the magazine we also had a stall
at the opening night event alongside the Village Bookstore, it was great
to see the mix of creative people, artists and designers as well as musicians
and journalists.
I think what Spur is doing is great and hope we will continue to work with them
in the future.

Speaking to Jay Cover

My friend Alex Gilmour met Jay Cover at an exhibition opening and passed his details
onto me, so I got in contact with him. After sending this e-mail I also bumped
into him at the Spur launch night.
He was a really helpful and interesting guy, I am going to go and visit him
in his studio in the new year and hopefully show him some of
my own work.

These are my final 6 boards ready for submission, my 4 main briefs have been printed out and the Neon Cactus and Tigerprint brief are just going to be submitted in PDF format.
